Staged Conversation #4 (the world was flat)
Aug 13th 8PM - 11PM
Exhibition Aug 13th - Sept 10th 2016
The fourth iteration of Staged Conversation is a constellation of objects culled from Wells’ studio over the past three years. These include the remnants of performative scenes, material explorations, and found objects employed in cultural dead-ends and roundabouts. These forms find unity in a stoicism which outlasted their respective original contexts and a shared spatial and chromatic grammar.
Nicholas Wells is a Minneapolis based artist who employs sculptural objects, embodied actions, pseudoscience, and video in his multifaceted practice. A native of Boulder Creek, California, Wells received his B.A. in 2008 from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and completed a Post-Baccalaureate study in ceramics at The University of Florida, Gainesville in 2012. He recently participated in exchanges with the Beijing Film Academy and The Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, Germany where he exhibited works in Sommerausstellung 2015. Wells most recently received his MFA from the University of Minnesota.
