Looking Through, Act II
Opening reception Saturday, September 24th
8PM - 11PM
Exhibition runs: September 24th - October 15th
Hours: Tues - Sat 10am-10pm
Looking Through, ACT II engages the subject of light and reflection. Reflection does not exist without light, as reflection relies on light to exist. Through majority of printmaking processes the image present is only a reflection of the master key.
The take away objects in Looking through, ACT II are presented low to the ground in masses of abstraction, which forces viewer to sift through the group at an uneasy ground. Through the mirrored laser cut take away, the viewer is able to intimately engage and reflect upon ones self.
Additionally, a limited edition of 20 artist pins will be available for purchase during the opening as well as the porch gallery’s online store.
About the artist
BFA, Minneapolis College of Art and Design
Lindsay Splichal is a multidisciplinary artist who works heavily in printmaking, installation and sculpture. Her work focuses on abstraction through repetition of form. Using printmaking as a basis for the work, Lindsay challenges traditional methods of printmaking through surface. The 2-D plane and installation spaces juxtapose themselves through black and white fields of order and chaos. Lindsay is a Highpoint Center for Printmaking Jerome fellow. She has also been involved in a handful of solo shows and multiple group exhibitions. She is an Instructor at Juxtaposition Arts where she teaches screen printing, and gallery assists at the Walker Art Center.
